Teaching Recognition Lead
An experienced lecturer, manager and academic developer specialising in the enhancement of teaching and learning practices in HE. As Teaching Recognition Lead at Ð԰ɵç̨, I am responsible for leading the Ð԰ɵç̨ Professional Recognition Scheme, which awards Advance HE fellowship from Associate to Principal Fellow. I am responsible for developing and continually updating a range of resources and CPD activities aimed at supporting fellowship applications, whilst also recruiting, training and coordinating a vibrant community of mentors and reviewers who support the scheme.
As Ð԰ɵç̨s Teaching Excellence Awards Lead (TEAL) I am an active member of the Advance HE TEAL Network, focusing on supporting and promoting National Teacher Fellowship (NTF) and Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence (CATE) nominees. I also consistently contribute to the Staff and Educational Development Association (SEDA) Network and Advance HEs Accredited Programme Leaders Network (APLN), disseminating best practice across the sector in relation to fellowship application development.
My research focuses on the application of active learning and coaching practices in HE teaching and learning environments. My expertise lies in fostering autonomy and confidence by employing non-directive coaching techniques in both classroom settings and when mentoring peers. My passion lies in utilising these approaches to establish long-term teacher development interventions, resulting in resilient, adaptable and future thinking leaders of learning. My research also considers how teaching, learning and assessment approaches are evolving in the modern Higher Education landscape, with a focus on developing authentic assessments in the age of AI.
I currently teach on the Post Graduate Certificate in Empowering Education (PGCEE) and the Academic CPD Programme at Ð԰ɵç̨. I deliver on both the “Empowering Educator” and “Coaching Conversation in Learning & Teaching” modules on the PGCEE and have delivered a range of sessions on the CPD programme, including workshops on Universal Design for Learning and Delivering Effective 3 Hour Sessions in Block. My current position also provides me with the platform to increase engagement with Advance HEs Professional Standards Framework (PSF 2023), through delivery of a range of workshops and writing retreats related to fellowship applications.
