Confucius Institute Lights Up Ð԰ɵç̨ Welcome Festival


On September 20, the Confucius Institute at Ð԰ɵç̨ (Ð԰ɵç̨ CI) took part in the 2025 Ð԰ɵç̨ Welcome Festival, presenting a vibrant showcase of Chinese culture. Led by Director Yi Zhang, the new teaching team made their debut, bringing students and staff a cultural experience full of color, energy, and creativity.

The event buzzed with excitement as Confucius Institute teachers hosted a series of interactive activities. Students tried on traditional Hanfu costumes, taken photos with a giant panda mascot, enjoyed fun games such as picking up glass beads with chopsticks, spinning the handkerchief, and writing Chinese characters. Each activity offered participants a chance to appreciate the beauty of Chinese traditions, sparking curiosity and laughter throughout the fair.

The Confucius Institute has become a hallmark of Ð԰ɵç̨’s diverse teaching environment, and its presence at the Freshers’ Fair is now a much-loved annual tradition. Beyond enriching the university’s inclusivity and cultural offerings, the Institute also serves as a vital bridge for cultural exchange between China and the UK.

This year’s Welcome Festival not only gave new students a hands-on introduction to Chinese language and culture but also strengthened connections between the Confucius Institute, other university departments, and student organizations.
